Whimsical Wedding at Hummingbird Nest Ranch

Wedding in Southern California

Allie & Farmon

The epitome of a whimsical dream

There is so much beauty at Hummingbird Nest Ranch and a truly special place

Describe your experience with wedding planning: Wedding planning is definitely a roller coaster. It can be so fun but also stressful at times. We had a specific vision so we were very hands on and involved, even with a planner.

If you want something, don’t be swayed by others’ opinions because this is your day.

Describe your experience with finding your wedding gown: I went and tried on dresses two separate times and enjoyed the process.

I fell in love with my ceremony gown immediately and it was everything I wanted it to be. The train on it was too big to use as a reception dress so I needed another option to be able to dance all night.

After many fittings and some alterations, my dress turned into my dream dress.

The reception dress I found was what I had originally envisioned, then got an amazing tailor to make some last minute alterations and had it ready to go the week of the wedding.

Everything worked out and loved both my dresses, remember to choose something you feel the most amazing in. It's your day and you should feel like a princess!

As for vendors, we loved Butterfly Floral & Design - they went above and beyond with the florals and details.

Some of our favorite vendors were LIV Entertainment for Music and Lighting, Bespoke Promise for wedding entertainment, and of course Rene Zadori Photography!

How did you meet? We met on the summer of 2017 at Splash House, a pool-party music festival in Palm Springs.

We instantly bonded over our mutual interest in the law, and spent most of that weekend together. At the end of the weekend, Farmon asked me out on a date when we got back to Los Angeles, and, here we are!

Describe the moment he proposed: Farmon planned to propose in Cabo in March 2020, but those plans were derailed when the pandemic was announced the night before our flight was set to leave.

After spending a month at home trying to make sure I didn't find the ring, Farmon took me to Santa Monica beach at sunset and got down on one knee!

What are your favorite moments of your wedding day? There were so many favorite moments, it’s hard to decide. but the prep session with our wedding parties was fun. Just having your closest people with you, helping you get ready for the day.

The first look was unforgettable and emotional, then of course sharing our vows.

We wrote our own vows and when you’re up there reciting them, everything and everyone disappears. It’s just the two of you.

Interesting facts about the wedding or couple: We are both lawyers that work on opposite sides of the law.

We also met at a music festival and basically turned our wedding reception into a festival.

Any advice you have for 2022 brides? Plan early! If you think you have time, you probably don't.

I thought I was really ahead of everything but when it came down to the last few weeks I had so much more to do than I thought.

Wedding Reception Design Theme: We wanted a whimsical and rustic design. Lots of green, copper, burnt orange!

We wanted a celebration that would be classy and fun, I think we were able to achieve that.

We also wanted to incorporate our love of festivals and EDM, so we brought a small festival to our venue with amazing entertainment.

Wedding Reception Design Inspiration: We originally wanted to get married in the redwoods around Big Sur, however, due to our higher guest count, we started looking closer to home.

We were very fortunate to find Hummingbird because it allowed us to party late into the night and still feel like we were immersed in nature.

We think the funnest part was our first dance. We hired a choreographer, and spent months rehearsing it.

Just before it was time for the first dance we tried to rehearse it one last time and when we stepped on that dance floor, we fell great, and had so much fun. The crowd loved it too!

Ending the night on stage jumping up and down and blasting the guests with fog guns. It was a the greatest night of our lives and we would not change a thing about it.
