A Message From The Bride & Groom

Describe your experience with wedding planning: It was a fun experience since both of us were equally committed and passionate about having the wedding of our dreams.

We worked closely with all of our vendors, to make sure the wedding turned out exactly as we imagined and intended. We coordinated most of our wedding ourselves, it was tough but we had a lot of fun!

Luckily, Monica and I both share a lot of the same taste in things and same themes which made things go much more smoothly. Monica definitely made sure all the right touches were done to have our dream wedding.

Describe your experience with finding your wedding gown: At the beginning, I thought it was going to be hard since there are so many beautiful dress options out there. Since I came to America, there was a bridal shop, Lili’s Bridals on a corner that I always passed near my home. It became my dream to get my wedding dress at this shop. It turned out to be destiny that I would find the dress of my dreams at Lili’s.

I couldn’t believe that it only took me one day to find my dress. I felt really lucky considering how other friends of mine took months to find their dresses.

I got the best support from family. For my dress fitting, I was joined by my mother, sister who was my maid of honor and future mother-in-law that made the moment really special.

We toasted champagne throughout the fitting and it became a really fun moment that ended as a big celebration at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Sol y Luna.

I had so much fun with her bridal squad, it made the day feel so much more special to be surrounded by my best friends.

How did you meet?: We met at Padri’s lounge in Agoura Hills, CA close to our homes on the night of Friday, September 12, 2015. Shervin was there with a close friend while Monica was there with her mother and mother’s close friends. It was actually one of her mother’s friend’s birthday celebrations. It turns out, Monica went along as the designated driver of the group.

Well, she was sitting all by herself in one of the cabanas when Shervin spotted her from afar. He was immediately entranced by her beauty. Quick on his feet, he thought the best way to approach her was to dance with the mom and her friends who were on the dance floor.

After a few minutes, Shervin caught Monica’s attention as she gazed at us dancing. He left the group and sat next to her in the cabana. She immediately wasn’t having it. All the basic and lame questions like do you come here often were thrown at her. Nonetheless, the conversation went on and we ended up ordering bottles of champagne and partying with the entire group for most of the night.

At the end, Shervin asked for Monica’s phone number. She replied and said, why don’t you give me your number. Shervin said, “come on, you and I both know that is the classic line for you will not ever be calling”. One of Monica’s mom’s friends convinced her to take a chance and if Shervin turned out to be a weirdo, you could always block his number. Well, turns out, Shervin is a weirdo but she fell in love with him from that moment on and the rest is history.

What are your favorite moments of your wedding day?: When Monica was doing her hair and makeup with her bridal crew, the idea of the wedding went from fantasy to truly becoming real.

Describe the moment he proposed: Shervin took Monica to her favorite spot, Paradise Cove in Malibu, CA. Since coming to America, Paradise Cove became a traditional and sentimental place. He planned things so that he could propose to her on the pier, on one knee just as the sun was setting and the newly lit moon was in the background.

There was hardly anyone around which made the moment private and special however, a couple teenagers were also there who became our improv photography team capturing timeless moments of the proposal. Actually, that was a pretty funny moment because the pictures turned out really good.

Interesting facts about the wedding or couple: Our union always felt like it was unique and meant to be. Both of our parents and family immigrated to America with nothing in their pockets searching for a better life.

“We considered a few options for our videography and photography but we immediately fell in love with Rene Zadori. Monica spent time browsing through weddings on Instagram and began following Rene Zadori’s page. All the photos and videos she came across were mesmerizing and his exceptional talent clearly showed through. It was especially clear after meeting Rene that he was the one we wanted capturing our special day. In our opinion, this was one of the best decisions we made for the wedding.”

Our florist was fantastic and was very competitively priced. We feel like Tina’s Flowers provided us with the best bargain and yet, provided quality and a lot of value. She worked really well with our Sofreh designer, Taraneh Ajdar. Taraneh did an incredible job capturing the tradition and beauty of the Persian sofreh display.

“It’s crazy to think about, the wedding I had been dreaming about since being a little girl became reality. “

The moment when Monica was walking down the aisle next to her mother and grandfather and seeing the man of her dreams standing there waiting for her was a moment she will never forget. That was also an unforgettable moment for Shervin as he stood and watched his wife-to-be walk down the aisle awaiting to take her hand in marriage.

A Rental Connection supplied all the right stuff and made a last minute change to expand the size of the dance floor which made a big difference. It would have been too cramped otherwise.

Wedding Reception Design Theme: A glamorous sunset romance with beautiful outdoor scenery. We wanted a unique outdoor wedding with beautiful scenery, clear skies, the sunset, mountains and canyons full of flowers with a touch of glamour and gold.

DJ Payman was easy to work with and provided awesome energy on the day of the wedding. David Masrour from Masrour Catering was hilarious because he actually became sort of our wedding coordinator on top of being the caterer. He was not shy to add his opinions about how to set up a Persian wedding and ceremony, specifically the sofreh.

The Best Wedding Planning Advice: Don’t feel bad to micromanage everything all the way down to the smallest detail to ensure you get the wedding of your dreams.

Our first dance to Elvis Presley’s song, Can’t Help Falling In Love with You was the moment when everything became still and it felt like it was only the two of us there dancing staring into each other’s eyes. That was the moment it really sunk in that we were going to be forever happily married. It is something we both will never forget.

Overall, the vibe and energy that existed between us and all our guests throughout the entire ceremony and reception was something we had never experienced at any other wedding. We may be biased but it just seemed like everyone had an awesome time full of genuine joy and happiness.

Vibrant dance music is definitely something both cultures have in common. We both love to party and dance!
