Engagement Session before their wedding at Hollywood Everly Hotel

A message from the bride

Describe your experience with finding the perfect location for your PreWedding Session: We decided on the Kimpton Everly Hotel after contacting a number of venues. Our wedding photos were already planned for a beautiful outdoor setting and so we decided we wanted the exact opposite look for our engagement photos. This hotel was the perfect setting, a modern, trendy hotel with beautiful design and decor overlooking the City of Los Angeles.

As soon as I spoke with Ana from the hotel, I knew it was our location. She was responsive, extremely helpful, and so sweet. She helped answer all of our questions and was always available. Even more on the day of our shoot she reserved us a private suite so that we could change and get ready and came to introduce herself and check on us to ensure we had everything we needed. Ana and the entire staff of the Kimpton were wonderful and we could not have picked a better place.

What are your recommendations/tips for couples before/during their PreWedding Session?: Our recommendations for couples would be listen to your photographer and take their direction. You may think you know what looks right or good, but you really don't. If you want amazing photos, just listen and follow their directions.

What was your favorite part about your session?: Our favorite part about our session was Rene, he was absolutely amazing! As two people who don't take many photos, we were feeling very anxious about how we would pose or how our photos would come out, but Rene made the entire session so easy and comfortable. He made us feel relaxed, guided us through the whole thing, and looking at the end result, the photos, I was stunned! It looked as though we had posed in photos a million times before. The final product was perfect, and it really was all truly because of Rene.

Describe the moment he proposed!: The proposal was a complete surprise to me. We had decided to spend Christmas in Whistler, Canada with our very close friends. On December 24, Christmas Eve, we woke up and decided that we wanted to sight see the village and to go to the highest point on the mountain to take in the view. After having lunch, we took a 20-minute gondola ride all the way up the Blackcomb Mountain and got to the highest peak. At the top of the mountain on the edge was a glassed sightseeing deck. It was one of the most breathtaking views we had ever seen. It literally looked and felt like we were standing in heaven looking down below us at the snow covered mountains and the clouds below us (we were that high up).

As we stood next to each other, looking out at the most stunning view, Martin put his arm around me and asked if he could ask me a question. The next thing I knew he was on one knee on the ice cold snow holding out a box with the most stunning ring I had ever seen and asking me to marry him. I was in such shock and surprise that I could not speak for a few moments. I was finally able to get the word Yes out, and hugged and kiss the man of my dreams (along with a lot of happy tears). We turned to see the entire crowd cheering us on. It truly was the most perfect moment.

Interesting/fun facts about the couple or session : 1. We met on Bumble (yes, it actually does really work)! We are a success story!
